According to sources, Stephen King has written 55 stories in total out of which two were non-fictional (3 if you count the red-sox books). Short Story Collections – 7, as Richard Bachman- 7, and 39 novels in total. Many of his stories are taken shape of popular movies, television series and comic books. Stephen King is quite popular among even those people who have never read his books but are familiar with his name through his reputation or the adaptations of his books into movies.
Talking about his writing style at great length King believes that, good stories cannot be called consciously and should not be plotted out beforehand; they are better served by focusing on a single "seed" of a story and letting the story grow itself. King often begins a story with no idea how it will end. His works have impacted the entire world with their unforgettable characters, both the heroes and the villains, or their breathtaking plots.
King has won 6 Bram Stoker awards, 6 Horror Guild awards, 5 Locus Awards, 3 World Fantasy Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004), the 1996 O. Henry award, a Hugo Award in 1982 for the non-fiction Danse Macabre. He was given a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 by the Horror Writers' Association. He also received The National Book Foundation's Medal for his Distinguished Contribution to American Letters in 2003.
