There was no particular incident as such that inspired Ernest Hemingway to become a famous writer. His penchant for writing seems to have followed from one job to the other. He started his career at the age of seventeen as a writer of a newspaper. He later on went on to become a reporter and was even sent to cover the Spanish Civil War.

Hemingway moved into Paris, France on the advice of Sherwood Anderson. It was then in the following years that Hemingway wrote his own first book, called Three Stories and Ten Poems (1923). Robert McAlmon published the book in Paris. By this time, Hemingway had become a member of the expatriate group in Paris. He also came out with his most popular works around that time The Sun Also Rises, and his memoir, A Moveable Feast.

Hemingway drew inspirations from his own life and his own experiences. His experience as a reporter and his experience of serving as a volunteer on the front during war has well been incorporated into his books.

So essentially, Ernest Hemingway continued to write throughout his life, it was only the forms of writing that kept on changing.
