The marriage of the renowned poet was also a subject of great interest. Emily Dickinson was never married. However, her poetry often reflected a romantic side of the poet. Many critics were of the view that some her love poems were directed toward Reverend Charles Wadsworth. Emily did not have any children either.

Emily Dickinson is one poet who in a way ushered in an evolution in the field of poetry. She wrote something that was considered far beyond the conventional at that particular point in time. Emily often known to restrict herself to her isolated room had unique views on the laws of nature. Her perspective on subjects like life, death, love, friendship and nature was very inimitable.

Throughout her lifetime, Emily remained secluded for most part. As Thomas Wentworth Higginson explain in the ‘preface’ to Emily’s poems that she remained behind that locked door for years literally. Even her rare walks were limited to her father’s grounds. Despite being so secluded and cut of from the world, Emily had an unmatched perspective about most things. May be her recluse nature was the reason behind those powerful and highly influential words.
