There are absolutely no doubts about the prowess of this great poet. She has given some exemplary work to English literature. But despite all of this, Emily Dickinson never won an award in her lifetime. This is because none of the work by Emily was published when she was alive. It is quite sad that a poet of such caliber was unawarded for her talent throughout her life tenure.
However, after her death the Poetry Society of America or the PSA had formulated the Emily Dickinson awards. The Emily Dickinson Award is an award given by the P.S.A. to honor the memory and poetry of Emily Dickinson for a poem inspired by her.
The poetry written by Emily is known to have strong influences. Her unique poetry often questioned the nature of immortality and death. People with mental problems are often able to find solace in the powerful yet moving words written by Emily. Within short, compact phrases she expressed far-reaching ideas.
Emily Dickinson may not have be awarded in her lifetime, but the respect that se holds today in the filed of literature is no less than an award.
