Luzmila Carpio is a representative of the autochthonous music and soul of Bolivian people. She learned the meaning of sounds (the wind, the birds, the river, the echo of her own shouts to the winding cliffs) and voices (in rituals and fiestas of the people) and more importantly the connection between music and the well being of human beings and Mother Earth.
Matilde Casazola Mendoza (born 1942) is a Bolivian songwriter. Matilde was one of the most famous poets and songwriters of Bolivia. Many of her songs are filled with fascinating detail and lyrics. Her poems are very famous to those in her home country.
Javier del Granado (27 February 1913 – 15 May 1996), was a poet laureate and favorite son of Bolivia. Born in the city of Cochabamba, he spent most of his youth on his family's agrarian estate near the town of Colpa, Arani. This upbringing greatly influenced his works, which combine epic imagery and storytelling with rural and indigenous themes, primarily Quechuan (Incan).
Other famous Bolivian writers are Alcides Arguedas, Alfonso Gumucio Dagron, Laserna, Oscar Ichazo, Agustín Saavedra Weise, Jaime Sáenz, José Ignacio de Sanjinés, Pedro Shimose, Franz Tamayo, Francis Schwitzgebel Torres and Adela Zamudio.
