Rightly called the Father of Electricity, Thomas Alva Edison was born to Sam and Nancy on February 11, 1847, in Milan, Ohio. Thomas Edison died at the age of 84 in West Orange, New Jersey. He was considered as the greatest inventor of 1800s – 1900s. He had invented more than 1000 devices among which his greatest invention was light bulb.
His other major inventions were the vote recorder, stock quote printer, carbon telegraph transmitter, telegraph repeating machine, generator, DC power plant, phonograph, and kinetoscope many other devices.
Edison was called a wandering mind which ended this three month formal school education. Afterwards, his mother gave him further teaching at home. To help his parents Edison started to sell newspaper at the age of 12 years. However, at this age he lost almost all his hearing powers, though there are several different theories about it. Scarlet fever was one of the prime reasons attributed to this. Edison migrated from city to city in the United States taking available telegraph jobs between 1863 and 1867.
