He was a man of many talents and interests. It was the scientist in Ben that brought out the inventor. His natural curiosity about things and the way they work made him try to find ways to make them work better. During that time, people thought that lightning was a mysterious force and was a punishment from God. After seeing lights during the thunderstorm, he thought about something that could produce an unusual artificial light. However, the idea to invent electricity mesmerized many but Ben actually turned the imagination into an authenticity. He produced electricity by flying kite during a thunderstorm.

He attached a pointed metal piece on the top of my kite and a metal key to the base of the string. Lightning struck the kite and traveled down the kite string to the key. When he touched the key with his knuckle, there was a spark! Although he was knocked unconscious twice before when experimenting with electricity, yet he undertook the experiment.

While identifying the theory of electricity and lightening, he thought to bring electricity by using iron rod and he was successful in his attempt. This also forced him to propose a theory to protect buildings during thunderstorm by using iron rods. Invention of electricity was not only electrifying but also very significant for development of the modern world. .
