Queen Elizabeth II is the queen regnant of the 16 independent states and their overseas territories. She is also the supreme governor of the Church of England. Queen Elizabeth the second is mostly associated with the United Kingdom. However, she is also the queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua and New Guinea along with several other states. By virtue of Queen Victoria’s marriage to Prince Albert, all Victoria’s descendants had the house name of Wettin. Victoria's son Edward VII and his son George V used the same house name during their respective reigns. The First World War saw the rise of high anti German feelings. As a result the family was forced the royal family to abandon all German and German sounding titles. Thus Wettin was discarded and an English sounding version was opted namely Windsor.

Technically speaking Queen Elizabeth has her last name as Windsor. However the queen never uses a last name and should never even be referred to as Elizabeth Windsor.
