Though the princess did numerable charitable deeds, she is best known for her contribution towards AIDS patients. She did not hesitate in touching HIV positive patients or getting clicked with them. In fact, she was one of the first high profile people who chose to get photographed with people suffering from HIV. This helped a great deal in changing the attitude and mindset of people towards AIDS patients.
Princess Diana also championed the cause of banning landmines. Landmines have become quite a cause of conflict and had resulted in the deaths of countless people. She also campaigned against domestic abuse and also visited starving kids in Africa. Such was her humanitarian approach that she did not shy away from auctioning off 79 of her dresses to raise money for cancer patients. She donated over $5,000,000 collected from this auction!
