If the prince wants to be a descendant to the throne, there are certain conditions he must comply with. The first primary consideration that the prince needs to follow is that the woman he proposes to marry should be a non-catholic. This law was initiated at a time when anti-catholic feelings were at their peak. King Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic Church and declared himself head of Church of England.
Another condition that he must comply with is that if he wants to marry a woman who was already married, then she must be divorced. Her husband should be deceased before the other marriage take place. This condition again pertains to the rules of Church of England. Though the church permits remarriage after divorce, remarrying is only allowed if the former spouse is not dead. However, these days the church is re considering these rules and they may be revised soon.
Prince William cannot marry before the age of 25. If at all he wishes to get married before 25 years of age, he shall have to seek the queen’s approval. However, once he turns 25, he can marry without the Queen's approval, but he must notify the Privy Council and Parliament.
