Biography Of Paul Wolfowitz
Paul Dundes Wolfowitz was born to Lillian Dundes and Jacob Wolfowitz, Polish immigrants, in New York. Paul undertook his studies at Ithaca High School and, Cornell University in the mid sixties. He married his undergraduate friend Chevy Chase in 1968 with whom he later divorced in 2002. |

Wolfowitz who speaks five different languages graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and mathematics, but later studied. He earned a doctorate degree in political science in 1972 from the University of Chicago
Wolfowitz served Senator Henry Jackson as an aide in the 1970s. He also served as the Deputy Assistant Defense Secretary of the United States under Harold Brown and later became the Director of Policy Planning under President Ronald Reagan.
In 1982 Paul was appointed the Assistant Secretary of State in charge of the Pacific and Eastern Asia. In the late eighties, he served as the United States Ambassador to Indonesia. During the administration of G. H.W. Bush, he was an Undersecretary in charge of defense policy. In early the 2000s was appointed Deputy Secretary in charge of state defense.
Wolfowitz has received criticism on several issues. His policies regarding the Iraq War has been a great bone of contention and controversy. Despite criticism from Nobel laureate and former World Bank chief economist Joseph Stieglitz, Wolfowitz accepted his nomination in March 2005 as president of the global bank.
His relationship with World Bank Communication’s Officer Shah Ali Riza has also been a subject of great discontent throughout the world. In 2007, Wolfowitz resigned from the World Bank following accusations concerning the transfer of his girlfriend to the State Department.
