Controversy was almost the second name of Pancho Villa and it came very early in his life. At a tender age of sixteen, he shot and killed a man who tried to harass his sister. Historians point out that his life changed after this incident.
Though he had little schooling to his name, he managed to escape the police dragnet and he ran towards the Sierra Madre mountains. He later fought his way up and became the commander of the mineral rich Northern Mexican state called Chihuahua.
Certain quarters claim that his contact with political activist and sworn enemy of President Porfirio Diaz changed the life of Arango. He got more interested in politics and they soon formed an alliance to fight for the poor.
It is this fight for the poor that earned Pancho Villa many boos as well as cheers. Eventually Villa succeeded in ousting President Diaz and Madero was installed as the president in 1911. Villa also fought for the new president after his communist rule became unpopular this time teaming up with Victorian Huerta.
The two later became enemies and Villa came to fight Huerta when the latter made himself president following the murder of Madero. Pancho Villa was accused of many atrocities and was eventually assassinated in June 1923 but his killers were never known.
