Born to a Tagalog father, Santiagos Bonifacio and Catalina de Castro who was Spanish by nationality, Andres Bonifacio was born on November 30, 1863 in Tondo, Manila in Philippines. The star was in existence until May 10, 1897 when he succumbed death in Maragondon, Cavite after he was executed. |

Andres Bonifacio worked in a British trading firm, Fleming and Company as a clerk and as a sales agent as well. Afterwards, he moved to work for a German firm, Fressell and Company in Manila. Andres had two wives. Monica who perished of leprosy and Gregoria de Jesus whom he wedded in Binondo church despite objection from Gregoria’s parents.
Andres Bonifacio was a revolutionary leader in Philippine. Besides this, he was among the main rebels who spearheaded in the revolution against Spanish colonial rule which broke out in 1896. His heroic contributions in the revolution saw him gain the title ‘Father of the Philippine Revolution’.
On August 23, 1896, Andres Bonifacio proclaimed the independence of the Philippines. However, he was arrested and charged with sedition and treason. On May 10, 1897, Andres Bonifacio was executed.
Shortly after La Liga or rather the Philippine League was banned, Philippine League established an underground organization that was intended to shock colonial rule in Spain.
His role as a national hero was largely invented which later led to the debate on whom between Aguinaldo and himself should be considered as the first president of Philippines
