Villamil :
Jose de Villamil is remembered as one of the founding fathers of independent Ecuador. He founded the navy “conqueror”, was first governor of Galapagos, and minister of foreign affairs.
Alejo Lacano :
Alejo Lacano Bahamonde was born to Josefa Bahamonde Graces and Lose Francisco Lascano in Manabi. Alejo graduated in July 1864 as a surgeon and is known to be the first person to have brought forceps to Ecuador.
He is also famous for his establishment of the faculty of Medicine in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Doctor Alejo received so much favor and trust in his services so that in 1869, he was appointed Doctor for Life of the Civil de Guayaquil Hospital by Garcia Moreno.
Cecilia Alvear :
Cecilia Alvear pioneered in Latina television news and was former President of a national journalist association. She covered numerous major stories on wars, election protests, war on drugs and the Barcelona Olympics.
Cecilia was among the American journalists nominated for the Neiman Fellowship at Harvard University. She currently is a field producer working with Network News in Burbank (NBC) California.
Dr. Javier F. :
Dr. Javier F. Cevallos, born in Cuenca earned his Bachelors degree at the Puerto Rigo University. His later earned his masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois.
Javier taught at the University of Maine and at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. It is at the University of Massachusetts Amherst that he became a professor. Currently he is the President of Kutztown University having served from April 2002.
