Famous People From Somalia


Somali people have diverse race. They are nomads by nature. Most of them are Bantus and from Somalis tribe. Some of the significant people in Somali are those who fought for the country’s freedom. They are therefore regarded as historical figures. Some of these people include:

Muhammad 'Abdallah bin Hasan Cant

He declared a holy war in opposition to the British, Italians, and Ethiopians in 1899. He resisted the British until the time of his death in 1920. He was the first person to call for Somali unity against their colonizers.

Abdullahi 'Issa Mohamud :

He was the first foreign minister in Somalia. Between 1956 and 1960 he became a prime minister. This was during the Italian trusteeship administration.

 

Aden 'Abdullah Osman Daar :

He was the first president of Somalia. He brought about Somalia territory’s changeover from dependence independence.

Abdirashid 'Ali Shermarke :

He was the second president of Somalia. After independence, he became the first prime minister of the republic. He was assassinated in 1969 by one of his bodyguards.

Maj. Gen. Jalle Mohamed Siad Barre :

He led the bloodless coup which took over the government and established the SRC. He consequently became the president of the Democratic Republic of Somalia.

Mohamed 'Ali Samater :

He was the first vice president of Somalia. He also became the minister of defense and the prime minister in 1986. In conclusion, these famous people left a mark that will live to be seen by their fellow countrymen.

They gave their lives for their country and also ensured that the generations to come will enjoy as they eat the fruit of independence. Somali is rated as the top most dangerous waters but still, the country has superheroes.
