| Cecile Kayirebwa
Cecile Kayirebwa was perhaps the best-known Rwandan musician globally. She started singing at the young age of 15 with the Rwanda Song and Dance Circle. Cecile was passionate about discovering the origins of Rwandan music. Her music aimed at creating awareness about the Rwandan culture. |

Cecile’s songs encompassed various cultures of home country and feature the sounds of traditional instruments such as the ikembe and umuduri. She recorded several albums. Her 1990 release, ‘Ubumanzi’, was the most acclaimed.
King Kigeri IV
Kigeri IV, also named Rwabugiri, was one of the most renowned rulers of the pre-colonial Rwanda kingdom. He ruled the country from 1853 to 1895. Rwabugiri overcame the conventional restraints and increased the authority of his throne.
Rwabugiri’s government imposed a harsh rule on the formerly semi-autonomous Tutsi and Hutu lineages, taking away their lands and diffusing political power. By the end of Rwabugiri’s rule, Rwanda was split into well organized structures, each headed by a hierarchy of chiefs.
Immaculée Ilibigiza
Immaculée Ilibigiza is a Rwandan motivational speaker and author. She is one of the world’s foremost speakers on peace, forgiveness and faith. Her life was radically transformed during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, where almost her entire family was brutally murdered. Her book, ‘Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust’ (2006) has sold over 250,000 copies worldwide and been produced as a documentary.
Immaculée has been featured in numerous media including The Aljazeera Network, CNN and The New York Times. She has been honored with several doctoral degrees and numerous humanitarian awards. MPower pictures have signed a contract with her to produce a movie based on her story.
