Greece is a country found in South Eastern Europe with a population of approximately 11 million people. It is a country full of famous people who achieved a lot and changed many lives. These famous people from Greece not only left a mark in their mother country but the entire world. |

One such famous person is Alexandros Papadiamantis was an exceptionally gifted writer. He wrote poems, newspaper articles and was also an accomplished translator.
Exceptional writers
Born in the Island of Skiathos in 1851, Alexandros was a workaholic and used his money to help the poor. He took his final bow in 1911 and was honored with many poems and songs after his death. Nikos Kazantzakis is another world renown writer famous for the poem “The Odyssey; A Modern Sequel”.
Nikos also wrote a number of books such as “Christ Recrucified”, “The Last Temptation of Jesus” and “Zorba the Greek”. He later created a highly controversial film which was based on the film the last temptation of Jesus Christ.
Philosophers, Scientists and War veterans
Alexander the great is another famous person from Greece. He is commonly referred to as the conqueror of the ancient world and is one of the most famous military commanders.
He conquered the Persian Gulf and was planning to conquer Europe but his plans were cut short when he died on June 10,323 BC.
Socrates the famous sculptor and philosopher also hailed from Greece. He is widely quoted by history teachers to this date.
We certainly save the best for last. Archimedes the well known Mathematician and Engineer also has his roots in Greece. His most famous statement must be “Eureka”
