It borders Panama to the east and south, Pacific Ocean to the west and south, Caribbean Sea to the east and Nicaragua to the North. The first country in the whole world to abolish army and is ranked the 4th in terms of the Human Development Index amongst the Latin American countries. Costa Rica is divided into seven provinces Alajuela, Limón, Puntarenas, Guanacaste, Cartago, Heredia and San José. Christianity is the predominant religion in Costa Rica and the official language is Spanish.
It is a developing country therefore it still faces the inflation rates that other developing country faces. It stands as a good tourist place due to its physical feature and nature making it the most visited country in Central America.

Astronaut Franklin Chang-Diaz, Silvia Poll Olympic silver medalist, Joaquín Guitiérrez a famed writer. The current President Óscar Arias Sanchez who also won the 1987 Nobel Peace Prize in 1987.
