The term black is often used to refer to the people from Africa who have skin which is dark in color. The black race in America came into existence during the era of slavery. The black people in the United States were seen as second-class citizens and were denied several rights such as voting rights and even sharing transport with the whites.

The sports world is full of black people like top golfer Tiger woods, tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams as well as athletes such as Marion Jones and basketball star Michael Jordan.
