Chris Evert Biography
Chris Evert is renowned for her prowess in tennis. Born in December 1954 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Christine Marie Evert started playing tennis at the tender age of five under the coaching of her father Jimmy Evert. She took the first rank for the fourteen-under girl players in USA by 1969. At the age of 15, she drew public attention after winning Margaret Court, a top ranking tennis player. She further achieved a boost after qualifying for the United States Open tournament where she lost to Billie J. King. |

Also known as, “The Ice Maid,” Chris is famed for her very two-fisted backhand and unique poise. Her nickname “Ice Princess” was coined by her funs due to her cool, composure and evident maturity when playing.
Achievements :
Chris’ reputation spread further beyond her sporting achievements boosted by her perfect charm. In the mid 1970s, she met and fell in love with a prominent tennis player, Jimmy Connors with whom they later divorced. This relationship, though short lived, further led to her popularity.
Evert’s rivalry with Martina Navratilova led to the prominence of women tennis as a sport. She has eight doubles, and over one hundred and fifty singles titles. She is on record as having won 125 matches consecutively on the surface with a meager loss of seven sets.
Third Best Female Tennis Player :
Since her retirement from tennis in 1989, she periodically does commentaries for NBC. According to sports analyst Steve Flink’s she ranks third best female tennis player of the century.
Currently Chris has a bounty total of eighteen Grand Slams and several awards. She has three sons by Andy Mill but she is currently married to Greg Normal following a series of divorces.
