Born March 18, 1963 in Tarrytown, New York, Vanessa L Williams is a song writer and an actress by profession. She was the daughter to Helen and Milton Augustine Williams Jr. who were both music teachers and her younger brother is Chris who is also an actor. |

Vanessa studied French horn and Piano but her interest was in music. She later went to Syracuse University on a scholarship from 1981-83 where she majored on Theatre Arts. On September 17, 1983 she was the first African-American descent to be crowned Miss America.
Miss Pageant in 1983 :
She began her pageant in the early 980s and won her first pageant in 1983 that was Miss New York. Williams has been married twice to her first husband Ramon Hervey II from 1987-97 whom they had three children with, Melanie, Jillian and Devine in that order.
She later got married in 1999 to Rick Fox, a former basketball player and has a daughter Sasha Gabriela.

Vanessa has also dated Rob Mack in early 2006 and currently she is single and leaving in Chappaqua, New York and Beverly Hills, California. Vanessa has won many Grammy awards, other awards and nominations.
Vanessa featured in the movie Tony as a nominee and nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her performance as a witch in the movie Into the Woods.

In her musical career she fast released her debut album The Right Stuff in 1988 and her peak of career in music came with the release of her album The Comfort Zone.
She has also appeared on advertisements for RadioShack and a spokes model for Proativ Solution, L’Oreal cosmetics in late 1990s as the first African-American spokesmodel.
