Bardot who was born to a relatively well off family attributes her success in the entertainment world to her mother. In an interview carried out in 1998, Bardot said that her mother used to take her for dance lessons together with her sister Marrie-Jean. While her opted out to concentrate on education Bardot stuck on and made it big.

In a highly successful career that hit off in 1952, Bardot has starred in 48 films. She is the typical jack-of-all-trades as she also recorded over 80 songs and performed in several musical shows in a career that spanned over 21 years.
Not one to shy away from controversy, Bridget Bardot attracted some great deal of controversy over her views on interracial marriage and homosexuality. She was labeled a racist by some tabloids due to her staunch opposition to immigration and her views on Islam.
Bardot eventually stopped for the day in the entertainment world in 1973 and is now a well-known animal rights activist. She gained a lot of respect as one of the few foreign stars to make a name in the highly competitive film industry dominated by Americans.
